Toronto City is a very small airport with one terminal that can be walked through in 3 to 5 minutes.

Check-in counters and security are on the 1st floor and the longest queues, which can be especially long in the morning rush hour, are 15 minutes at most.

Transfer between flights

Although Toronto City is a very small airport, it is a frequent transfer point between regional cities in Canada or on routes from New York, Boston, Chicago or Washington DC for flights within Canada.

Given the size of the terminal, the transfer is very quick and straightforward.

Domestic <-> Domestic

You get off the plane directly into the departure gate area, so you don't have to move anywhere at all.

After you get off the plane, you will head through a special corridor to Canadian Immigration (lines usually 10-15 minutes).

Canada -> USA

After you exit the plane, you must go outside to the public area, take the escalator to the 1st floor and go through security to the departures section towards the USA where you will go through US immigration (called preclearance).

There are no hotels on the island on which the airport is located.

You won't even find accommodation at the ferry dock, and the nearest classic hotel is about 10 minutes away by taxi or tram in the Harbourfront district below the famous CN Tower.
