Sphinx International Airport in a nutshell
Sphinx International Airport is 48 km west of Cairo city centre, 37 km from the Giza Pyramids and 30 km from the GEM - Grand Egyptian Museum.
The airport opened for regular operations in 2020 to relieve congestion at Egypt's largest airport , Cairo CAI.
Flights to Giza Sphinx Airport are mainly operated by low-cost airlines from Europe and the Middle East. For example, Wizz Air and flydubai fly to the airport.

I am also interested in the situation with visas.
Hello,
I have confirmation from the Egyptian Embassy that the visa can be obtained upon arrival at the airport (visa on arrival). However, I am flying with Wizz Air to Sphinx Airport (SPX) and there is information that the company will not allow me to check in and board the plane without a pre-arranged e-visa.
Please does anyone have personal and current experience with this flight? Does Wizz Air really require an e-visa in advance even though Egypt does not require it?
Thank you
Good afternoon, have you found out anything about Visegrad? Do they let you board a flight without a visa?
In my recent experience, taking an uber to or from the airport is currently unrealistic. Everyone, I repeat absolutely everyone, tries a million different excuses (long trip, need to pay tolls, I won't have a customer on the way back, that's the way the system is at the airport, etc.) and just tries to oscam you (demanding tens of $ extra in crap). Looks like they are all agreed and just waiting in the parking lot. I've tried about 6 different chauffeurs and all the same result. Either they text you straight through the uber that they want extra money or worse, you walk a few feet in the car, they stop and the same story starts - luckily they had no problem insisting and had no problem opening the trunk and letting us out of the car. They also try this trick when driving between Giza and Cairo, but it's on a smaller scale. So to save time it's probably best to book a taxi through the hotel, giza - airport should be about 10€. On departure all the checks only took about 30 minutes (there weren't many passengers) so I don't know if we got lucky or if the whole process was sped up considerably, either way there was no point in being there so early.
I rode Uber in Cairo now with no problems - SPX and CAI and then between GEM and downtown (November 2025).
We've experienced the same thing - Bolt, Uber ... from the airport it's all the same, right away they say $50 and delusional :) We finally got a hold of one (after half an hour of searching) for 10€, but clearly they were asking 15 afterwards (the hotel wanted 20). Back to the airport the guy didn't make up his mind, he took us from Bolt for 7 €, but 5 km before the airport his car broke down, so he hitched a ride in the parking lot of a stranger with whom he agreed and he drove us, he didn't even want anything extra. Besides, we had an estimated 20 rides around Alexandria, Kahir, Hurghada and no one tried to rip us off (except for the rides from SPX and HRG airports)
