Transportation to the airport is provided only by taxis or hotel minibuses. There are no public transport buses to Ilulissat Airport.

Hotel shuttle

The only large hotel in town - SØMA Sisimiut - offers a free airport shuttle.

This always runs by prior arrangement from the hotel, which must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

Taxi

Taxis work well in Sisimiut and are the main means of transport for tourists and locals.

There may be no cars waiting outside the terminal, however, taxi drivers in Sisimiut keep track of scheduled arrivals and usually a taxi will show up at the airport without being hailed within 5-15 minutes of arrival.

Taxis can be paid by card or in Danish Kroner and the price is calculated according to the meter. The price to the city centre is around 150 dkk.

On foot

You can also walk to the city centre, 4.5 km away, on an asphalt road without much elevation gain.

Traffic here is sparse and local drivers are used to pedestrians.

Public transport - bus

Although there are two bus routes operating in Sisimiut, they do not go to the airport.
