ATMs and exchange offices
ATMs of many Japanese banks are rather illogically located always on the departure floor (1st floor, public area) - domestic and international terminal.
The ATM withdrawal fee is uniform and is 220 jpy.
Currency exchange offices, on the other hand, can always be found in the arrival halls, but are operated only by Travelex with very unfavourable exchange rates.
So, after arrival, ideally take the escalator to the departure floor and withdraw from the ATM.
Luggage storage
Luggage lockers can be found in several locations on the arrival and departure floors of both terminals.
The lockers are automated and currently only accept cash - coins.
Prices are tiered according to locker size from 500 jpy to 800 jpy.
Shops and supermarkets
There is no standard large supermarket at the airport, however you can use a few konbini (mini-markets) such as Lawson's or 7-Eleven.
These can be found mainly in the public area of the departure floors of both terminals.
Lawson or the similar mini-markets JAL Plaza and ANA Festa are also after security checks. Be warned, these branches don't usually open until around 7:30am, so make sure you buy your food in the public area before the first morning departures.
The large shopping arcade, where you can also find a Uniqlo branch, is located in the passage between the domestic and international terminals, in the public area.
After security check, you will find shops in the international terminal (duty-free, fashion and souvenir shops), while there are practically no shops in the domestic terminal.
Dining options
Most restaurants, cafés and fast-food outlets can be found in the public area, 1st floor, or in the connecting corridor between the domestic and international terminals.
There are plenty of restaurants in the transit area of the international terminal.
On the other hand, in the transit area of the domestic terminal you will find only a few very small local eateries, where there are often large queues.
If you are travelling domestically within Japan, eat in the public area.
Showers
There are no public showers at Chitose Airport.
