Connecting flights

Palermo is not primarily a transit airport.

If you are transferring between two Schengen flights, you will disembark directly into the departure gates area and therefore do not need to leave the transit area at all.

When transferring between Schengen and non-Schengen flights, you must always leave the transit area.

Is it possible to stay overnight at Palermo Airport?

The terminal is open 24 hours a day, so you can stay inside if your flight arrives very late or departs very early.

However, the airport does not have a designated rest or sleeping area. The seats are not very comfortable, and most restaurants and shops close for the night. Spending the night in the terminal is therefore possible, but we recommend it only as a last resort.
