Transport from Izmir Airport: My Tips
The airport is connected to the centre of Izmir by the modern IZBAN railway line. Direct comfortable buses run to various seaside resorts such as Çeşme.
Prices are constantly changing due to high inflation in Turkey and we always recommend checking through the official websites, details of which are listed below.
Train and buses to Izmir
You can get from the airport to Izmir by train, public transport and Havaş buses. The cheapest and most frequent service is the IZBAN train/metro.
| Price | Travel time | Frequency | Destination | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metro IZBAN | 30 try (+ price for Izmirim Kart) |

Metro IZBAN
The railway station is located between the terminals.
To pay your fare, you need to buy an Izmirim Kart, which is sold at the kiosk in front of the escalators leading to the platform or at many vendors in the city. Official information is currently only available in Turkish: izmirimkart.com.tr.
The price of the card itself is 30 try. You can top up the card with any amount when you buy it, which you can use when travelling on the IZBAN train, metro and all buses of the Izmir public transport, trams, cable cars and you can also pay with the card in supermarkets, for example.
You can pay the train fare by attaching it to the turnstile when entering and exiting the platform.
The IZBAN train goes directly to the centre of Izmir (Alsancak station) and continues north to Aliaga. In the other direction, trains run to the inland historic town of Selçuk.

You also need to buy an Izmirim Kart for 30 try to pay the bus fare, for example at the kiosk outside the entrance to the train station. Bus stops are nearby.
To the airport, a special "G" fare applies on all lines, the current price of which can be found on the website: eshot.gov.tr. Fares are valid for one journey only and there are no all-day fares.

Car rental
If you want to discover the beauty of the Aegean Riviera on your own, renting a car is definitely the best option. The terminal is home to many car rental companies, including well-known multinational brands.
Prices start at around 50 usd / day in the peak summer season.
Taxi
Official yellow taxis run according to the meter. You can also check the price and book an official taxi via the Uber app.
The price depends on the distance, but also on the traffic density, and expect to pay around 15 eur for a trip to the centre of Izmir.
