Izmir Adnan Menderes International Airport in a nutshell
Adnan Menderes Airport is situated 18 km from Izmir, Turkey’s second-largest city.
Traffic is very heavy, particularly during the summer season, when the already very busy year-round routes are supplemented by numerous summer charter flights from European destinations to the Turkish Riviera.
Regular year-round services are mainly operated by the low-cost carriers Pegasus Airlines and AJet, whilst SunExpress has its main base here.
Flights from Izmir mainly serve destinations within Turkey, Europe and the Middle East. The busiest route (up to four times an hour) is to Istanbul.

A single journey on the IzBan train from the airport to the city centre costs 205 TRY. At the ticket office before entering the platform at the airport, you will be sold a paper ticket for 35 TRY, onto which a further 170 TRY will be loaded. If you pay by card, this is processed as two separate transactions. Public transport in the city (as tested on the metro and on the ferries between Izmir and Karşıyaka) can be paid for in a single transaction using your own card, at a cost of 39 TRY.
