Istanbul Airport in a nutshell

Istanbul, Hagia Sophia

Istanbul New Airport has been operational since 2019, when all traffic was transferred here from Atatürk Airport. It has also adopted its IATA code, ‘IST’, which is commonly used in flight schedules and on tickets.

In the coming years, the airport will continue to expand its facilities and aims to become the world’s largest airport.

It is situated approximately 50 km north-west of the centre of Istanbul and serves as the main hub for Turkish Airlines.
