The airport has good transport links by train and bus. The easiest way to reach Gdańsk’s historic centre is by taking the direct bus 210, whilst the train is best for travelling to the Wrzeszcz district, Gdynia and, after changing trains, also to Sopot.

Single tickets for trains and buses are not interchangeable. A standard ZTM ticket is not valid on trains, and a train ticket cannot be used on buses.

I personally use the Jakdojade website or mobile app to plan my journeys in Gdańsk and the surrounding area, where you can also buy tickets online.

Bus to Gdańsk city centre

The bus stops are right in front of the terminal, next to car park P1.

For most tourists, routes 210, 110 and the night bus N3 are particularly useful.

• Route 210 runs directly to the main railway station ( Gdańsk Główny ) on the edge of the historic centre. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes and, during the day, buses usually run every 25 to 40 minutes.

• Line 110 connects the airport with the Gdańsk Wrzeszcz railway station. The journey takes 25 to 30 minutes, and services usually run every 20 to 30 minutes. The train on the same route is about 4–5 minutes faster, but also roughly twice as expensive.

Bus 120 travels through the southern parts of Gdańsk to its terminus at Łostowice Świętokrzyska. It is not particularly convenient for travelling to the historic centre.

Bus tickets

You can buy tickets from ticket machines at bus stops or via mobile apps such as Jakdojade, FALA, SkyCash, mPay and others.

A single-journey ticket costs 4,80 pln and is valid for a single journey only, without transfers. A 75-minute transfer ticket costs 6 pln.

You can also buy a 24-hour ZTM ticket for 22 pln. All these tickets are valid only on buses and trams, not on trains.

If you plan to use both trains and public transport on the same day, one of the metropolitan tickets is worth considering:

• 30 pln: SKM and POLREGIO trains together with ZTM Gdańsk buses and trams

Night transport

At night, the N3 bus runs between the airport and the main railway station ( Gdańsk Główny ). Services run approximately once an hour from 23:00 to 04:00, and the journey to the city centre takes around 40 to 50 minutes.

The same tickets are valid on the N3 service as on daytime buses, i.e. 4,80 pln for a single journey.

Train to Gdańsk

Gdańsk Port Lotniczyrailway station is located in front of the terminal, and a covered walkway leads to it from the departures hall.

POLREGIO trains depart several times an hour from the station Gdańsk Wrzeszcz. The journey takes 20 to 25 minutes and a ticket costs 8,50 pln.

To reach the historic centre, you’ll need to change at Gdańsk Wrzeszcz station to an SKM train heading towards Gdańsk Główny or Gdańsk Śródmieście.

If you wish to travel to the centre without changing trains, you can take the cheaper direct bus 210.

You can buy tickets from the ticket machines on the platform, where you can pay by cash or card, or online via the POLREGIO website. You can also search for connections via jakdojade.pl.

Alternatively, you can buy a 24-hour metropolitan ticket for 30 pln for all types of public transport in Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia, or for 26 pln for Gdańsk only.

Train to Gdynia

Trains also run from the station directly opposite the airport to the city of Gdynia. The frequency is similarly irregular to that of the service to Gdańsk (13–60 minutes). There are slightly fewer services to Gdynia than to Gdańsk.

The ticket price is 11 pln when purchased from a ticket machine at the station or online via polregio.pl. This ticket is valid for a single journey only.

You can also take the train to the town of Kartuzy, near the Kashubian National Park.

Transport from the airport to Sopot

The direct bus 122 from the airport to Sopot no longer runs.

The quickest way is by train, changing at Gdańsk Wrzeszcz. From there, take the SKM train towards Sopot and Gdynia. The entire journey usually takes 35 to 45 minutes.

Buy a ticket straight to Sopot station. The fare is 11 pln.

Car hire

Don’t fancy driving all the way to Gdańsk, but would you like to explore the Polish coast far and wide?

Then the best option is to hire a car directly at the terminal. There are many international car hire companies operating here, and prices start from just 37 eur per day.

Taxis, Uber and Bolt

The official Neptun Taxi rank is right outside the arrivals hall. The journey to Gdańsk city centre takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

Neptun Taxi offers a fixed price 99 pln during the day from 6:00 to 22:00 and 120 pln at night, on Sundays and on Polish public holidays. You can also pay by card.

The Uber and Bolt apps also operate at the airport. The fare varies according to current demand and is always displayed before you book a ride, so it’s worth comparing both apps.

Generally speaking, Bolt or Uber are cheaper than a taxi, and the average fare to the historic centre is around 70 pln.
