Bologna Airport is the ideal gateway for exploring the Emilia-Romagna region. Thanks to its proximity to other airports such as Pisa, Florence and Rimini, travelling to this part of Italy opens up interesting possibilities for trips with different starting and ending points.
Ryanair has one of its hubs here, with dozens of flights across Europe. However, most major European airlines also fly to Bologna Airport.

They currently have new venues in Bologna for security checks, so it took about 5 minutes even with the pre-check passage. What a difference compared to Catania where we almost missed our plane due to absolutely slow and crowded security (almost an hour at security, plus someone was always trying to get ahead of us and sometimes did, which the staff didn't care about unlike other airports)
There's quite a bit of space to wait though, it must be quite uncomfortable in the "rush hours".
