Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport in a nutshell
Bologna Airport is the ideal starting point for exploring the Emilia-Romagna region. Thanks to the proximity of other airports such as Pisa, Florence or Rimini, travelling to this part of Italy opens up interesting possibilities for trips with a different beginning and a different end.
Ryanair has one of its bases here, with dozens of flights all over Europe. However, most of the major airlines from Europe fly into Bologna airport.

They currently have new venues in Bologna for security checks, so it took about 5 minutes even with the pre-check passage. What a difference compared to Catania where we almost missed our plane due to absolutely slow and crowded security (almost an hour at security, plus someone was always trying to get ahead of us and sometimes did, which the staff didn't care about unlike other airports)
There's quite a bit of space to wait though, it must be quite uncomfortable in the "rush hours".
