Addis Ababa Bole Airport in a nutshell
As the largest airport in Ethiopia and the country’s sole international gateway, it is also one of the busiest in Africa, thanks to the local airline, Ethiopian Airlines.
Addis Ababa Airport is one of the most frequent transit points for journeys between Africa, the Middle East and the rest of the world. Ethiopian Airlines flies from here to more than 150 destinations on every continent except Australia.
Transfers in Addis Ababa are convenient, partly because Ethiopian Airlines provides free hotel accommodation; see detailed information.

The airport terminal is situated 6 km south-east of the centre of Addis Ababa.
Although Ethiopian Airlines accounts for almost 90 per cent of all traffic, other airlines such asQatar Airways, Emirates, Flydubai, Egyptair, Turkish Airlines and others also fly to the airport.

I'm thinking of buying tickets with a connecting flight just in Addis Ababa with Ethiopian airlways, and here a question comes to my mind. If the entire connecting flight is on one booking and I have a few nice hours between flights, do I collect my luggage or is it only checked in once at my starting point?
You only check in once at the point of departure, but if you have a very long layover in Addis Ababa and need to pick up your luggage, you can request to check in only to Addis.
I found a lot of useful information here !:) I didn't think I was entitled to a free hotel when transferring.
