American Airlines flights
AA's main focus is on domestic routes in the US, but the airline operates direct flights to all continents except Africa.
When to buy tickets
The best time to book American Airlines tickets is 2-6 months before departure.
If you want to travel during the busy periods around Christmas, holidays or summer breaks, buy your tickets more than 6 months before departure.
You can book your tickets on the official aa.com website and, as many routes are flown with competing airlines, we recommend using comparison sites such as skyscanner.com.
Fare classes
American Airlines offers economy, premium economy, business and first class on its planes.
On domestic and regional routes to the Caribbean and South America, the business class designation is First Class.
The different classes are further divided into different fare groups, which differ in the number of baggage allowances, ticket change options and other services.
Different fares and conditions apply on domestic routes and different on international routes.
If you buy a connecting flight that includes both international and domestic sectors (for example, London-New York-Miami), the terms and conditions of the international flight always apply for the entire journey.
