Macy’s
Whether or not you’re a shopaholic, you absolutely must pop into Macy’s on Herald Square in New York.
The 10 most luxurious hotels in New York
One of the city’s iconic department stores offers a wide variety of fashion across 10 floors. There’ll be plenty of great sales too – look out for the racks in the corner labelled 70–90% OFF.
How did we get on at Macy’s?
Macy’s is an iconic department store that has been in business since 1858.
It has its own charm, and when you look at the huge red sign from the outside, you really get that authentic New York feeling!
In reality, though, I wasn’t particularly impressed by Macy’s.
The floors are huge, yet the individual brands don’t have particularly large boutiques here. And because the vast majority of clothing giants have their flagship stores in New York, a visit to Macy’s doesn’t offer the very best you can buy in NY.
The world’s oldest escalator
On the ground floor of the department store, you’ll find a unique attraction.
You can take the world’s oldest working escalator up to the first floor; it has been preserved in its original condition.
The world’s oldest escalator was manufactured from oak and ash in 1902 by Otis.
