Maniniowali Beach

Maniniowali Beach

Kua Bay, often referred to as Maniniowali Beach, is a hidden treasure among the more famous beaches of the Big Island's west coast.

Nestled between black fields of dried lava, the beach is wedged into a small green "oasis" and boasts crystal clear calm waters and a pleasant environment away from civilization. Yet it is perfectly accessible by car.

  • Beach width - 20 metres

  • Toilets and showers - yes, at the parking lot
  • Catering - no
  • Shops - no

How to get there

There is a new road leading directly to the beach, which after about 1.5 km turns into the main road number 19. The turnoff is unmarked and is on the opposite side of the intersection from where the road leads to the marked West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery.

There is free parking at the end of the road about 50 yards from the beach.
