Los Cristianos

A view of Los Cristianos

Los Cristianos is the largest of the three well-known beach resorts on the southern tip of Tenerife (the others being Playa de las Américas and Costa Adeje). The town of Los Cristianos is the undisputed king among the Canary Islands’ holiday resorts; what’s more, it is home to over 20,000 permanent residents, so it doesn’t feel sterile or artificial and is bustling all year round.

In the streets of the town centre, you can enjoy a shopping spree, whilst on the promenades you can savour delicious food in restaurants and drinks in bars, which stay open long into the night.

You can hike up to the local 103-metre-high peak of Montaña Chayofita, which offers views of the entire resort and the sea. The walk from the centre is about 1 km.

Beaches and swimming

Visitors can look forward to three man-made, immaculately maintained beaches, all with full facilities. You can hire sun loungers and parasols, enjoy refreshments at one of the many restaurants or bars, make use of the free toilets, changing rooms and showers, or hire a pedal boat.

All three beaches are within walking distance of the town centre – no more than 5 minutes’ walk – and all are covered in fine, golden sand.

  • Playa de las Vistas– the largest beach, situated right in the centre with a wide promenade and numerous restaurants; it is approximately 600 metres long and about 70 metres wide
  • Playa de los Cristianos– separated from Playa de las Vistas by the local harbour. This beach is also large and fully equipped; it is 200 metres long and approximately 80 metres wide
  • Playa del Camisón– the westernmost of the beaches is sheltered from the outside world by a low embankment and a row of palm trees. It is one of the quieter beaches and is ideal for families with children
