Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is dedicated to the aftermath of the atomic bombing of the city and provides a moving account of the tragic events of 1945.
The museum is situated in Peace Park in the centre of Hiroshima, and a visit will take you around 60 minutes.

What will you see at the museum?
The museum is divided into three main sections.
- Hiroshima before the bombing – here you’ll see period photographs of the city from before 1945, as well as photos from the days immediately following the dropping of the atomic bomb
- Stories of the people of Hiroshima – the most moving section of the museum, featuring many personal stories, photographs of the injured and an exhibition of their personal belongings
- The Dangers of Nuclear Weapons – the final section is devoted to the development and risks of nuclear weapons
Admission and opening hours
The museum is open every day from 7.30 am.
Closing times vary depending on the season and range from 18:00 to 20:00; see the official website:hpmmuseum.jp.
The admission price is 200 jpy and you can pay by card or in cash.
