Weather in Sarajevo and best time to go

Sarajevo

Thanks to its location on the border between the temperate and subtropical zones, Sarajevo enjoys slightly higher temperatures than we do here, although the surrounding mountains do temper the temperatures somewhat. It could be said that the weather here is very similar to that in the Czech Republic throughout the year, except that the winters tend to be warmer and shorter.

When to go to Sarajevo

As is the case throughout Europe, the ideal time to explore the city is roughly from late March to late October. February, November and early December are grey and damp. Conversely, in January you can go skiing on the surrounding hills, which may tempt enthusiasts of slightly more exotic skiing to pay a visit. After all, in 1984 the nearby Bjelašnica resort hosted the Winter Olympics.
