The German airline Condor is tempting travellers (me, at any rate) to head for the west coast of Mexico, specifically the southern part of the Baja California peninsula.

Return tickets for almost the whole of November and the first week of December are available on condor.comfor 462 eur in the Zero fare, with just a small carry-on bag, or for 522 eur in the Classic fare, including a checked-in bag.

My partner and I visited Mexico for the first time this year – on the other side of the country, in Mexico City and around Cancún – and personally, I was absolutely blown away by the country.

I’d head straight to Los Cabos, because it seems you can experience a completely different side of Mexico there than on the Caribbean coast:

• endless cliffs and desert landscapes
• stunning beaches bordered by picturesque cliffs and coves
• a dry climate with minimal rainfall

What’s more, San José del Cabo is a great base for all types of travellers:

• luxury all-inclusive resorts, including some of the best hotels in the world
• cheap car hire (a small car from 111 eur for a week, an SUV from 226 eur for a week)
• the possibility of endless road trips
• very cheap hotels away from the main resorts
