Internet and Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is available free of charge via the “Zurich Airport” network. The connection is limited to 4 hours, after which you simply log in again.

To access the internet, you must log in using an SMS code or by scanning your boarding pass at the information desk.

Luggage storage

The easiest way to store your luggage is in the automatic lockers right by the entrance to the train platforms.

The lockers are accessible 24/7 and storage for up to 6 hours costs between 7 chf and 12 chf, depending on the size of your luggage. There is also a charge of 3 chf to 6 chf for each additional 6-hour period.

Another luggage storage facility is located at the ‘Service Centre’ counter on Level 1 in the common area between the terminals and the train station.

At this facility, you will pay between 10 chf and 20 chf per day, and it is open from 6.00 am to 10.30 pm.

Shops and supermarket

Zurich Airport serves as one large shopping centre.

The transit area is mainly home to shops selling luxury clothing brands, Swiss watch retailers such as Swatch and Rolex, amongst others, as well as small kiosks selling sweets and drinks.

In the public area, the greatest number of shopping options can be found in the common area between the two terminals and the railway station, where you’ll find shops selling fashion, footwear, sports equipment and electronics.

There are also standard supermarkets selling groceries at the airport:

“The Circle” shopping centre

About 200 metres from the terminal, you’ll find the large “The Circle” shopping centre, featuring many shops selling fashion, accessories and everyday essentials.

Dining options

The airport has a wide range of restaurants, fast-food outlets and small cafés with bistros offering ‘to-go’ refreshments.

There is a wide selection available in the public area as well as beyond the security check.

Most shops don’t open until around 5.30 am and close between 9.00 pm and 11.00 pm. Which restaurants are open outside these hours?

Travelling with young children

After passing through security near Departure Gates A, there is a room marked ‘Family Services’.

Access is free, and you’ll find children’s play areas with toys, private breastfeeding cubicles and rooms with nappy-changing tables.

Smoking rooms

Enclosed, ventilated rooms are located in the public area and in numerous places beyond the security check. Look out for signs marked ‘Raucherzone’.

Drinking water

Drinking fountains providing cold drinking water can be found throughout the transit area, usually near the toilets.

Showers

There are four locations at the airport where showers are available to the general public.

• Airport Fintess and Wellness – 15 chf / 30 minutes, public area, on the ground floor of the Radisson Blu Hotel (open 8.00–22.00, weekends 9.00–19.00)
• Hotel Radisson Blu – 35 chf, public area, near Terminal 1, open 24/7
• Service Center – 20 chf, public area, between the terminals and the train station (Level 1), open 06:00–22:30
• Transit Hotel – 20 chf, transit area, near departure gates B/D, open 24/7

The price at all locations includes the hire of a towel and toiletries.

ATMs and currency exchange bureaux

You’ll find cash machines belonging to major Swiss banks throughout the terminals and at the entrance to the railway station.

Partly because all transport from the airport can be paid for online or by card, there are no currency exchange bureaux in the arrivals halls.

Views of the aircraft

Zurich Airport boasts two highly rated terraces offering views of the airport grounds and planes taking off and landing.

Viewing Terrace B

Access is via the public area near Check-in 2, and you’ll enjoy views of the aprons at Departure Gates A, B and D, where mainly medium-sized and smaller aircraft flying within Europe are parked.

The terrace offers a superb view of runway 16/34.

• Opening hours – open all year round from 10:00. From November to March it closes at 17:00 and at 18:00 for the rest of the year

E Viewing Terrace

The terrace is situated on the roof of the satellite building in the middle of the airport apron. The view is mainly of the stands for large long-haul aircraft, and take-offs and landings from runways 16/34 or 10/26 are clearly visible.

Viewpoint E has two separate access points.

For the public

Special shuttle buses run every 30 minutes from the observation deck across the airport apron. You must go through security.

• Price – 5 chf (included in the admission fee for Terrace B)
• Opening hours – only from mid-June to the end of October, and only at weekends and on public holidays between 12.15 and 16.00

For passengers

Passengers with a valid boarding pass can visit Terrace E free of charge all year round, every day from 8.00 to 21.30.

As the terrace is located in a separate building, which is accessed via passport control, it is only accessible to passengers from Departure Gates E.

Airport behind-the-scenes tours

Zurich Airport is known for its hospitality towards aviation enthusiasts and the general public alike, and organises several guided tours that take you behind the scenes at the airport.

The tours are subject to a charge, ranging from 200 chf to 450 chf depending on the tour selected.

Fitness and wellness

On the ground floor of the Radisson Blu hotel, you can make use of the fitness and wellness centre, which is open daily from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm (at weekends only from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm).
