Transfers and Terminal Layout at Tulum Airport

Tulum Airport Terminal TQO

Tulum Airport currently has one relatively large and modern terminal. The airport is much more straightforward to navigate and far more pleasant than the larger Cancún Airport ( CUN).

The terminal is spacious in both the public and transit areas, and everything is well organised.

Queues for security checks usually take 10–15 minutes, and for passport control on arrival from abroad, around 20–45 minutes.

Connecting flights

Tulum is not primarily a transfer airport and therefore does not offer the option of a direct transfer through the transit area.

If you are organising your own connection at Tulum Airport, you must always leave the transit area, collect your luggage and check in again.

Hotels near the airport

If you have a very early morning departure or, conversely, a late arrival, I would personally consider staying at the hotel directly opposite the terminal.

Tulum Airport is quite a long way from the beach (about 45 minutes by taxi), so it might make sense to stay right by the airport for one night.
