Transportation from Riga Airport

Riga

Riga is accessible from the airport by regular public transport buses at normal fares. Taxis or car rental services are also available.

Bus 22

Bus line 22 runs to Riga city centre, terminating at the Abrenes iela stop and also passing by the main train or bus station. A 90-minute ticket will cost you 1,50 eur and can be used for travelling around Riga afterwards.

Get off at the Grēcinieku iela stop for the quickest way to the small historic centre.

On your way out of the centre, be careful not to get on the trolleybus line 22, which does not go to the airport at all. Bus and trolleybus line numbers overlap illogically in Riga.

You can buy a bus ticket at the Narvessen newsagent outside the terminal by the bus stop, at a vending machine or from the driver, where you can pay by card and the ticket costs 1,81 eur when you board. The last option is to download one of the mobile apps and buy a ticket through it.

Tickets are valid for the entire Riga public transport network on buses, trams and trolleybuses.

You must mark your ticket when you board the bus.

Taxi

A regular taxi from the airport to the historic centre costs around 15 eur and you have to take a meter. Should the taxi driver refuse to turn on the meter, get out and choose another vehicle.

Taxis stop immediately outside the terminal next to the bus stop and there are always a few cars available.

A very popular alternative in Riga is the Bolt app, through which a car from the airport to the centre goes out 11 eur to 16 eur depending on the time of day.

Car rental

Several large international car rental companies have a branch in the terminal. A car is the best means of transport for exploring the Latvian countryside or a trip to the seaside.

Weekly rental prices vary between 120 eur and 180 eur depending on the season.
