Getting from Quebec Airport

Although we always prefer public transport for our trips, either because of the cost or the greater sustainability of travel, in the case of Quebec we would rather recommend a taxi.
While there is a cheap bus service from the airport to the city centre, the 15km journey takes a disproportionately long 50-60 minutes. But there is a public transport option anyway.

Taxi/Uber
Both regular taxis and the Uber mobile app operate in Quebec City.
The taxi stand is in front of the international arrivals building. You first order a taxi at the counter inside the arrivals hall, where you will be assigned a car waiting outside.
You pay the fare directly to the driver, the preferred method of payment is by contactless card.
Taxi prices are transparent and fixed:
- 42,45 cad - daily rate
- 48,65 cad - night rate between 23:00 and 5:00
There are always enough taxis waiting outside the arrivals hall to serve all passengers.
The Uber mobile app drop-off point is right outside the domestic arrivals hall.
Prices are dynamic and are calculated according to current demand. They are usually slightly lower than for traditional taxis (from 33 cad), but can be higher at peak times.
Car rental
If you're heading out to explore historic Quebec City, a car would be a liability in the narrow streets.
However, if you want to venture into the countryside and rural areas of Quebec, a car is the only sensible option given the virtually non-existent intercity public transport.
Weekly rental rates in high season start at 685 cad.
Prices and availability of car rental companies
The car rental centre can be found in the car park directly opposite the terminal.
Public transport
There is an RTC bus stop right in the middle of the terminal.
Quebec City does not yet have a fare-buying app, so you always have to buy a paper ticket from the machine located inside the terminal near the exit out towards the bus stop.
There are several types of tickets to choose from:
- 1 ride (possible transfers to other lines within 90 minutes) - 3,75 cad
- 2 rides (ideal for the return trip to the airport so you don't have to buy in town) - - 7 cad

There are 2 bus routes to the airport, but only one is usable for getting downtown.
- Line 80 - goes to the west side of downtown to Dorchester station. From there you can walk to the historic centre in 20 minutes or transfer to bus lines 3, 12, 28, 800 or 801 within the validity of one ticket
- Map and timetable
