Getting from Malacca Airport

From the airport, it takes about 25-30 minutes by taxi / Grab to reach the historic centre of Malacca at Dutch Square or Chinatown.
Grab / Taxi
The best option for tourists is the Grab mobile app. Cars are ubiquitous and even though the airport is quite far from the centre, you usually won't be waiting more than 10-15 minutes after placing your order.
Grab is quite cheap and on average you'll pay around 17 myr to get to the centre of Malacca from the airport.
You can pay cashless with a card entered in the mobile app and you don't pay anything to the driver.
The alternative is the classic taxis that wait outside the terminal for every scheduled arrival. The price to the centre is around 25 myr and you can only pay in cash.
Public transport - buses
The pink buses of the local carrier BAS MY come directly to the terminal.
Line 12 runs to the airport, taking passengers to Melaka Sentral, the main bus station for local and long-distance services.
- Ticket price - 1,40 myr
- Frequency - 60 minutes
- Travel time to Melaka Sentral - 30 minutes
- Buses run from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Route map
At Melaka Sentral station you can change to the M100 line to the historic centre, which runs once every 30 minutes. The fare is the same and is 1,40 myr (paid for 1 ride each time).
You can buy the ticket from the driver by putting money in the ticket box. Try to be as accurate as possible as the driver does not give change. Therefore, most tourists will pay for the ticket 2 myr, as coins are not as prevalent.
