London’s second-largest airport, and one of the busiest in Europe, is situated about 45 km south of central London and 43 km north of Brighton.
EasyJet operates the most flights to Gatwick Airport, where it has its main hub. British Airways, Wizz Air, TUI, Vueling and Norse Atlantic Airways also operate a large number of routes from Gatwick, with the latter offering low-cost transatlantic flights.
The majority of flights are to European destinations, the Caribbean and the USA, but there are also direct flights from Gatwick to Asia and Africa. Gatwick therefore serves as an alternative to Heathrow Airport ( LHR).
