Internet and Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is free and unlimited throughout the airport. Connect to the “Free Gatwick Wi-Fi” network. There are also public computers with internet access available in every terminal.

If you are using an EU SIM card, you can make calls and use data in the UK at the same rates as in your home country, even though the UK is no longer a member of the EU.

You’ll findsupermarkets selling foodin both terminals:

• WHSmith – North Terminal, beyond security, open daily from 3.00 am to 9.00 pm
• Marks & Spencer – South Terminal, public area, arrivals, open 24/7
• WHSmith – South Terminal, public area, arrivals, open 24/7
• WHSmith – South Terminal, past security, open daily 3.30 am–10.00 pm

There are alsopharmacies in both terminals, which are very handy. The following branches have the longest opening hours:

Both terminals also feature a wide range of shops. You can enjoy shopping for luxury fashion, jewellery or watches, whilst children can have fun at the Lego shop, for example, and you can, of course, pick up discounted goods at the many duty-free shops.

Restaurants and cafés

You’ll find restaurants both before and after security. The following restaurants and cafés are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:

• Terminal North, before security: Costa Coffee, Starbucks, The Nicholas Culpeper
• Terminal North, past security: Pret A Manger, Starbucks
• Terminal South, before security: Caffe Nero, Costa Coffee
• Terminal South, past security: Costa Coffee, Pret A Manger, Starbucks

Luggage storage

There are two luggage storage facilities in the terminal. They are operated by the same company, so the prices are the same at both locations.

You’ll pay 15 gbp for 24 hours’ storage.

• Terminal North – near the automated shuttle train, public area, open 4.00–20.00
• Terminal South – by the check-in counters, public area, open 5.00–21.00

ATMs and currency exchange bureaux

Currency exchange bureaux at the airport offer very unfavourable exchange rates, and we recommend avoiding them altogether.

Withdraw cash from a cash machine or pay by card (which is acceptedalmost everywhere in the UK).

Drinking water

In total, there are only four drinking fountains in the transit area, where you can fill your own bottle with water free of charge.

• North Terminal – immediately to the right after security, before entering the duty-free shop

• South Terminal – Arrivals, before immigration

Showers

Only visitors to premium lounges can freshen up with a shower whilst waiting for a long period. You won’t find any showers in the public areas.
