Airport Hotels at Lisbon and Sleeping in the Terminal
Lisbon is a well-known connecting airport, where you will often have to spend long overnight layovers, and airline schedules are often set for very early morning departures around 6am.
TAP, which used to offer free hotels on connecting flights, no longer operates this service.
Hotels near the airport
Hotels within walking distance of Terminal 1 and the shuttle bus stop to Terminal 2:
- Star inn Lisbon Airport - 3* hotel 100 metres from the terminal, prices from 100 eur
- TRYP Lisboa Aeroporto Hotel - 4* hotel 100 metres from the terminal, prices from 150 eur
Hotels in the centre
The city centre isn't far from the airport and if Lisbon is your destination, you'll always be within 45 minutes of your hotel.
- Hotel A.S. Lisboa - 3* hotel right next to Alameda metro station
- Lisbon Arsenal Suites - 3* guesthouse right in the centre by the 208 night bus terminus near Cais do Sodre station
Overnight in the terminal
The airport (Terminal 1) is open 24/7, both the public area and the transit area.
Overnight stays inside the airport are not a problem, but there may be random police checks to ensure that you are indeed a ticket holder and not using the airport for long term overnight stays.
The most comfortable place to spend the night is around the Burger King restaurant, where there are comfortable seats and this part of the terminal is the quietest after hours.

Hello
my son (11 years old) and I are flying to Lisbon for the first time, arriving from Prague at 22:45 -- is it possible to stay there until early morning? Then we will have a whole day off , what to see near the airport, how to buy a ticket for the metro or bus? Is there an app for buying domestic tickets? Thank you
The airport is practically in the city, it's on the metro, what do you want to do there all day? In half an hour you're on the metro in the most central part of the city.
I'd try clicking on Transport on the top right and then also on the top left menu, and then look for the Lisbon guide under destinations. Also maps.com or maps.google.com can be quite helpful. It's not that hard. 😉
