  • in the middle is the security checkpoint for domestic flights - about 5 minutes walk from the check-in desks
  • there is a security checkpoint for international flights at the arrivals hall - approx. 7 minutes walk from the check-in desks

Relaxation areas

Koh Samui's airport is renowned for its picnic areas, which you'll find both in the public area and in transit after security, where you'll have great views of the planes and runway.

Comfortable cushions for sitting are scattered on the grassy areas, but feel free to lie down right on the grass.

There are also gazebos with classic chairs and tables set up in front of the airport terminal in the public area.

Transfer between flights

Koh Samui is not a typical transfer hub.

However, as Bangkok Airways has one of its main bases here, you may find a guaranteed transfer.

However, the airport is not set up for direct transit, so you always have to go out to the public area and walk about 5 minutes to the security checkpoint.

The total minimum transfer time at Koh Samui Airport for guaranteed transfers is as follows:

  • domestic <-> domestic - 40 minutes
  • domestic -> international - 45 minutes
  • international -> domestic - 65 minutes
