Maui - Hawaiian Islands

There is a Hele-on bus stop right in front of the terminal, but the vast majority of passengers use rental cars to get around Maui.

In any case, the vast majority of travellers rent a car at the airport as soon as they arrive. The headquarters of all car rental companies are located about 150 meters from the terminal and the walking route is clearly marked.

Car rental prices at Kona Airport normally range between 130 usd and 300 usd per week, depending on the type of car.

Public transportation - bus

If you're arriving late in the evening or leaving early in the morning, for example, and it's worth renting/returning your car a day later/earlier to save a few dozen dollars, there are also local public buses to get you to the airport.

There are two bus routes, 35 and 40, to downtown Kahului .

The city is very close, so it takes about 5 minutes to get there. The two run about once every hour and a half from 5:30 to 10:00 pm interspersed, so the interval to Kahului town is 30 minutes.

The ticket costs 2 usd regardless of distance traveled and is paid in exact cash to the driver.

Line 35 additionally goes to Paia and Haiku, and number 40 goes to Kula. For official Maui bus information, visit mauicounty.gov.
