Getting from Johannesburg Lanseria Airport

Johannesburg

The airport Lanseria is not served by any public transport. The vast majority of tourists rent a car directly from the terminal or use taxis.

Car rental

If Lanseria Airport is your base for travelling around South Africa, rent a car directly from the terminal.

Many multinational and local rental companies have a branch here, and weekly rental rates start at around 110 usd.

The car rental counters are on the ground floor of the car park directly opposite the terminal.

Taxi, Uber, Bolt

If you don't want to rent on the day you arrive, taxis or the well-functioning mobile apps Uber and Bolt can be used to reach nearby towns.

Taxis here are not officially marked, but there are always taxi drivers with circular "Taxi" signs in the arrivals hall, and you don't have to worry about rogue unofficial drivers.

However, prices with regular taxi drivers are subject to agreement, so it may be more secure and convenient to use Uber/Bolt where you always know the price in advance.

The taxi, Uber and Bolt stands are in the same place on the left in front of the arrivals hall.

Average Uber / Bolt prices are as follows:

  • Johannesburg - from 250 zar
  • Pretoria - from 330 zar
  • JNB Airport - from 350 zar
