Officially, the airport is named after the Argentine aviator Jorge Newbery, but in normal use, only the name "Aeroparque" is used, which can also be found on many departure boards throughout Argentina.
The airport is located very close to the city centre (about 8 km), making it much more popular than the more distant and larger international airports Ministro Pistarini-Ezeiza EZE.
Aeroparque mainly serves very busy domestic routes around Argentina and regional international routes to Brazil, Chile or Uruguay.
