Bishkek Airport uses 1 terminal common to all airlines, international and domestic flights.

The building dates back to the 1970s, but the check-in process is more or less standard. However, expect often long check-in queues if you are checking baggage (even more than 60 minutes).

Security check-in queues are usually between 10 and 15 minutes.

Passport control on arrival is usually quick, but if you have multiple planes arriving from abroad, you may spend up to 60 minutes in line.

Transfer between flights

Bishkek isn't a typical transfer airport, but it does have the option of a direct transfer without leaving the transit zone.

International -> Domestic

Upon arrival in Bishkek you always have to go through passport control and collect your luggage.

You will go outside to the public area and check in at the domestic flights section and go through security to the departure gates.

The transfer time varies between 60 and 120 minutes depending on the queues.

Domestic -> International

The procedure is basically the same as the transfer described above in the opposite direction.

Upon arrival, you collect your baggage and check it in again at the international check-in counters.

Here you will go through passport and security control to the departure gates.

The difference is the length of the queue at passport control, which is usually much shorter on departure. For this reason, the net transfer time is between 60 and 90 minutes.

International <-> International

If you are transferring from one country to another via Bishkek and do not intend to enter Kyrgyzstan at all, follow the "Flight Transfers" signs which will lead you to a security checkpoint for transferring passengers only.

This will take you very quickly to the departure gate area. There is no passport control.

Net transfer time is between 20 and 30 minutes.

Opening hours - overnight stays at the airport

Bishkek Airport remains open 24/7.

Many passengers spend the night in the terminal, but there are virtually no comfortable seats or quiet areas to sleep.

We therefore recommend arriving at the airport no more than 4 hours before your flight.
