What services can I expect during my flight and transfer with China Eastern Airlines?
Refreshments on board
China Eastern Airlines provides complimentary refreshments on all its flights, even for economy class passengers.
For long-haul flights over 7 hours, you will always get two meals.
- 1 full hot meal
- 1 breakfast or a cold dinner if the flight departs or lands during the night hours
On domestic flights within China or shorter regional flights you will usually get 1 hot meal.
Entertainment system
So-called In-Flight Entertainment will keep you entertained even on flights longer than 10 hours. There is a large selection of movies, series, documentaries or music or arcade games.
The on-board system is completely free.
Screens are located in every seat on all long-haul Boeing 787, Boeing 777, Airbus A350 and Airbus A330 aircraft.
In-flight wi-fi
On Boeing 777, Boeing 787 and Airbus A330 long-haul aircraft you can log on to wi-fi throughout the flight for a fee 258 cny.

Connecting hotel
China Eastern Airlines offers a free transit hotel option at Chinese airports for 8-24 hour layovers.
However, detailed terms and conditions are not published anywhere and the hotel cannot currently be booked online.
You will find out whether you will get a free hotel on transfer when you check in at the airport.

Can the films be selected in French?
Only Cantonese and Mandarin.
Negative experience, which is why I do not recommend it :
They have no connecting hotel, they don't even cater to foreigners.
They don't have staff at airports to help you, even in Shanghai or other airports. They do not want to solve the problem.
The secret police were more helpful, but not China Eastern Airlines!
November 19, 2024 I was left in Shanghai for one day... No compensation, no reply, no apology, no Hotel, nothing etc.
Bad feeling when you don't have QR code in China and you can't pay cash with credit card. Phone google no...English is not spoken in many cases even in big airports e.g. at night...
Complaints from abroad i.e. Hungary are rejected.
Passenger insurances do not pay for China. e.g. Unica (Even if you have a worldwide insurance...)
I do not recommend the airline.
Don't travel with them unless you like to starve and bum around a big city....
