Miracle Lounge at BKK Airport: is the paid entry worth it?
After a night on the train from Chiang Mai and a whole day in Bangkok, all I was looking for before my evening flight with Etihad was a shower.
I chose the Miracle Lounge in the international section of Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), near Departure Gates C.
It wasn’t exactly a luxurious experience. However, a clean shower at no extra cost and a surprisingly wide selection of hot meals came in very handy before my flight.
I describe what the flight itself from Bangkok via Abu Dhabi to Prague was like in my review of Etihad’s economy class.
My verdict: In terms of ambience, Miracle is rather below average and fills up quickly at peak times. Nevertheless, thanks to the food and, above all, the shower, I left feeling satisfied. If I needed the same thing after a long day before my flight, I’d even pay for those two hoursat1 300 thb.
Which Miracle Lounge did I visit?
The lounge is in the international departures area beyond passport control, in Section C on the 3rd floor. It is open 24 hours a day.
Don’t be put off by the name ‘First & Business Class Lounge ’: you can gain access even without a premium-class ticket.
Miracle operates several other lounges in the international departures area at BKK. And not just at BKK Airport, but throughout Thailand.
The lounges are very similar, so I wouldn’t go all the way across the airport just for the one at Gate C. Choose a lounge near your gate, or whichever one happens to be less crowded at the time. If a shower is your main priority, check that the branch you’ve chosen has one. The one I visited near Gates C did.
What’s more, if you come across a Miracle lounge at another Thai airport, you might find this review useful too – all the lounges have similar facilities and services.
How do you get in and how much does entry cost?
- Revolut Ultra: This is how I got in. Access to the lounges is included in my plan; I check the specific lounge in the app before I travel. In this article, I’ll explain when the Ultra plan pays off for me because of the lounges. If you decide to sign up for Revolut, you can do so via our link to claim the bonus. Your stay is limited to 2 hours.
- Priority Pass or LoungeKey:Whether access is included in the price and how much it costs for a guest depends on your membership. At this branch, they state that the maximum stay is 2 hours.
- GetYourGuide: Book a 2-hour session at 1 300 thb. The offer allows you to choose from several Miracle lounges in the international terminal, including Terminal C.
- Plaza Premium: Book a specific lounge in Section C for 3 hours at 1 500 thb.
- At reception: You can also purchase a one-off entry directly at the lounge.
Hot food is the buffet’s biggest draw
I counted about nine hot dishes to choose from. That’s very decent for this type of lounge. It’s no problem to grab a bite to eat here before a long flight.
The cold section, however, was rather lacking: a few salads, some vegetables and practically no fruit.
There were few desserts, and the ones I tried didn’t taste good at all.
I did, however, find some small tubs of Häagen-Dazs ice cream. That pleased me more than the whole dessert counter.
The alcohol selection consisted of just a few bottles of spirits and one bottle of sparkling wine. There were also tea bags and coffee from a vending machine, which didn’t really impress me.
Soft drinks come in tins and bottles. Sealed packaging is handy if you want to have a drink to hand on your way to the aeroplane.
A shower at no extra charge is the main reason to come here
For me, a shower was more important than the buffet. After a night on the train and a day in hot Bangkok, I wanted to have a proper wash before my flight.
Unfortunately, there are no other public showers at Bangkok Airport apart from those in the lounges.
The shower was clean, there was no extra charge, and a towel was included in the entry fee.
It was thanks to this that I was able to overlook most of the lounge’s shortcomings. If you’re coming here mainly for the shower, make sure you allow plenty of time for it within your two-hour access period.
Seating, work and Wi-Fi
At first glance, the lounge looks a bit cheap. I tripped over the power sockets in the floor a few times.
Otherwise, however, it was relatively clean and the space is laid out quite sensibly: dining tables, lounge chairs and a small work area.
The work area could be larger, and I’d have liked more sockets.
The Wi-Fi, on the other hand, was fast and I had no trouble working on it. Overall, there aren’t many seats and the lounge fills up quickly at peak times.
Is the Miracle Lounge worth the price?
After a busy day in Bangkok, it gave me exactly what I needed: I had a hot meal, had a shower and sat down for a while before my flight.
Via Revolut Ultra, I didn’t pay anything extra for that particular visit.
If my plan hadn’t covered the entry fee, I’d have been happy to pay 1 300 thb for two hours in that situation, mainly just for the shower.
If you just need to sit down for a bit and have a coffee, I’d think twice about paying for entry if I were you.
