Waipo'o Falls

The Waipo'o Falls, falling from the jungle's interior down steep cliffs to a depth of 800 metres at the beginning of the famous Waimea Canyon, are one of Kauai's top attractions.
Enjoy both the view of the falls themselves from one side of the canyon and the view from the falls into the depths of the canyon, which is one of the most dramatic of all canyon views.

Hike to the falls
Waipoo Falls are three cascading streams of water that measure about 245 metres in total, but then continue to flow steeply over the rocks like a river to a depth of about 800 metres.
From the road along the western edge of Waimea Canyon you can get a great view of the falls from a distance, but we definitely recommend walking directly to the falls.
From the parking area at the Pu'u Hinahina overlook at the top of the canyon, a marked hiking trail leads along the rim of the canyon directly to the falls - see map.
It is a pleasant and easy trail winding partly through the forest and partly along the canyon rim with beautiful views for about 2 km in one direction.
