Cueva del Viento

Cueva del Viento

The Cueva del Viento cave is one of the most extensive underground lava tunnel systems in the world. Of all the volcanic caves explored, Cueva del Viento is the 5th longest tunnel system in the world with its 17 km of tunnels. During your visit you will be amazed at times that the caves are purely natural and the lava tunnels, which often look man-made, are purely the work of nature.

Visit and tickets

It is only possible to visit the caves with a guide as there is no artificial lighting. Only a small part of the cave system (about 1 km) is accessible. Good quality hiking boots are essential, ideally long trousers and even a long sleeved shirt. Inside it is humid and the temperature is at most around 15 °C.

A helmet with a headlamp will be provided as part of the ticket price.

Tickets are booked online with the exact date and time of your visit. Tickets and guided tours are available at 20 eur.

How to get there

The entrance to the caves can be found in a small residential area high above the town of Icod de los Vinos. The main entrance, with an information centre and small car park, is by the yellow house on the left hand side of Camino los Piquetes, see map.

The nearest bus stop "El Refugio" of line 360 is about 1,5 km from the entrance to the caves.
