The Catalan Palace of Music, or Palau de la Música Catalana, is a monument unique in the world, built in the ornate style of Catalan Modernism.

Together with the Sant Pau Hospital complex, it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the only concert hall in the world to hold this status.

This leading concert hall in Barcelona will captivate you with its colourful façade, but the biggest surprise awaits inside. The main hall, filled with mosaics, stained-glass windows and sculptures, is, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful interiors in Barcelona.

The tour takes only about 50 minutes and fits easily into even a packed itinerary in the city centre. We also recommend it to travellers who don’t usually take much interest in architecture or classical music.

Tour of the concert hall

If you don’t wish to attend a performance, you can pay just for entry to the interior, which we highly recommend if you have even the slightest interest in architecture.

Tours are available daily from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm.

Admission fees and types of tours

Tickets are sold for specific times. You can choose from three basic options:

• 20 eur – a self-guided tour with information materials; for most visitors, this offers the best value for money
• 24 eur – self-guided tour with an audio guide on your mobile phone
• 24 eur – a guided tour with a live guide; this takes place only at scheduled times and in several languages

Children under 10 accompanied by an adult are admitted free of charge. When purchasing at the ticket office, a service charge of 2 eur is added to the admission price, so it is worth buying your ticket online.

A standard ticket via GetYourGuide costs the same as on the official website, i.e. 20 eur. The seller is the Palau de la Música itself, and you also get the option of free cancellation up to 24 hours before your visit. You can also take advantage of a booking with deferred payment.

A great combination with the Sant Pau Hospital

Are you planning to visit the Modernist Sant Pau Hospital complex as well?

A combined ticket for the Palau de la Música and Sant Pau costs 32 eur, which is 5 to 6 eur less than two separate tickets. You can also cancel this ticket free of charge up to 24 hours before your visit.

Attending a concert

Of course, you can also go to the concert hall to see a real concert. It’s best to buy tickets online; they’re usually available around three weeks before a specific performance.

Prices vary depending on the type of concert and seat location, ranging from 18 eur to 90 eur.

Practical information

• There is no luggage storage facility at the entrance. Therefore, please do not plan to visit with a suitcase or a large rucksack.
• The main areas are accessible to wheelchair users via lifts.
• Palau is an active concert hall, so access to the stage or all the halls cannot be guaranteed during every tour.
• There is no dress code for a standard visit. For concerts, please dress in accordance with the nature of the specific event.

Location and transport

The Palau de la Música is situated on the edge of the historic Barri Gòtic district, about a 5-minute walk from Plaça de Catalunya. Its historic façade is tucked away in the narrow Carrer de Sant Pere Més Alt, so it’s easy to walk straight past it if you’re in a hurry.

• Metro: Urquinaona station, about 150 metres – lines L1 and L4
• Bus: Via Laietana – Comtal stop, about 30 metres – routes 47, V15 and V17
• On foot: about 5–10 minutes from Plaça de Catalunya
