The airport is located west of the city just off the A2 motorway and is accessible by car or bus to the centre of Varna and the resorts.
Bus Varna and Golden Sands
There is a direct bus line 409 to the centre of Varna (bus station, cathedral) and to the resorts of Golden Sands, St. Constantine or Helena.
Line 409 is operated by two different companies. They both stop at the same stops and once along an almost identical route. The 409 city buses go all the way to the "Republika" stop in Zlaté Písky, while the buses of the private carrier of the 409 line end at the "Zhurnalist" stop, also in Zlaté Písky.

The purchase and types of tickets also differ.
The stop for both lines is identical and is located about 50 meters to the right of the terminal.
Please note that buses in the direction of the centre, Golden Sands and other resorts stop at the same stop, as well as buses going to the suburb of Aksakovo. The destination station is not always shown on the banner, so always make sure the driver or conductor knows where the bus is going.
On the way to the airport, all buses go to the outskirts of Aksakovo, but you don't have to worry about missing your stop. The buses enter directly into the airport area, so you will always know when to get off.
Prices and ticket purchase
Theblue and white city buses with the sign "A3 ❤ Varna" on the front allow you to buy tickets in the following ways:
- At the vending machine inside the bus, where you can officially pay by card, but this option often does not work, so it is recommended to always have cash with you.
- In a vending machine at bus stops in the city (there is no vending machine at the airport).
- Via the Varna Traffic mobile app (available on Google Play / App Store), where tickets are cheaper
Ticket prices are as follows and are valid for travel to Varna and Golden Sands:
- 2 bgn - 60 minutes transfer
- 1 bgn - 60-minute transfer via the mobile app
- 2,50 bgn - transfer for 90 minutes
- 1,50 bgn - 90-minute transfer via the mobile app
- 4 bgn - all day
White, blue-grey or white-red buses with the inscription "ЧЕНСФИЛД" are operated by a private company.
The only ticket valid here is for 2 bgn for one ride. It is not possible to transfer to other buses and you cannot use day tickets, tickets purchased from machines at the bus stop or via the mobile app on these buses.
Route and timetable
Although the route map of line 409 is only on the Varna Traffic website, i.e. the blue and white buses, the ČЕНSFILД buses follow the same route.

Times are approximate and delays may occur.
- The first bus from the centre (from the Cathedral) does not leave until 6:45 am with arrival at the airport at 7:14 am
- The last bus from the airport leaves at 23:11
Car rental
If you would like to organize a road-trip along the Bulgarian coast or inland with stops at several different places, the best option is to rent a car. If you're heading here in high season, it's worth booking a car for the lowest price about 2-3 months before your trip.
Typical prices in high season range from 35 eur per day for a week's rental, a 4-day rental will work out from about 40 eur per day. There are several car rental companies, including most multinationals, located right in the arrivals hall.

Taxi
Official "Triumph" taxis are available outside the airport building at all hours of the day and night. You can arrange a ride at the kiosk in the arrivals hall, where an attendant will arrange a free taxi for you.
Payment is cash only and prices are flat rate:
- Varna centre - 18 bgn
- Golden Sands - 42 bgn
- Albena - 60 bgn
- Balchik - 75 bgn
- Obzor - 96 bgn

Transportation with travel agencies
If you bought a tour to Bulgaria with a travel agency (flight + accommodation + airport transfer), you pick up your luggage and walk out of the transit zone.
On the right and left side are the stands of each travel agency, where your delegates are waiting.
They will direct you to a bus that will take you directly to your hotel at no extra charge. The tourist bus stop is approximately 50 metres in front of the terminal.
