Surat Thani Airport in a nutshell
The small international airport Surat Thani is located 26 km from the city of the same name in the south of Thailand.
Currently, only domestic flights to Surat Thani are operated, especially to Bangkok, where flights are operated several times an hour.
When buying a ticket to/from Bangkok, pay attention to which airport it is. Surat Thani is served from both airports in the Thai capital:
- Bangkok BKK (e.g. VietJetAir and some AirAsia flights)
- Bangkok DMK (most AirAsia and Lion Air flights)
Other direct flights go to Chiang Mai, for example. Most flights are operated by AirAsia.

Surat Thani Airport can serve as an alternative starting point for travel to Ko Samui. Travelling via Surat Thani and onwards by boat from the nearby port is usually significantly cheaper than direct flights Bangkok - Koh Samui.
The terminal closes for the night and it is not possible to stay overnight.
