Where are the arrivals and departures?

The airport has 4 terminals that function as one connected unit.

Basic orientation

• 🛬 Arrivals - 1st floor
• 🛫 Departures (check-in) - mostly 2nd floor (but at terminal 2 on the same level as arrivals)

💡 Unlike other airports:

• security check takes place at the gate
• terminals 1, 2 and 3 are connected in one building, while you have to take a shuttle bus to terminal 4

How long before departure to arrive?

One of the most common questions.

Real recommendations:

• 2 hours before departure - short flights in Asia
• 3-4 hours - long-haul flights (check-in desks open earlier)

💡 From personal experience:
Changi is extremely efficient, but:

• distances to the gate can be long
• security check is at the gate

Night airport operations

The airport operates 24 hours a day.

What this means in practice:

• arrivals and departures are non-stop
• most services (food, shops) are open at night
• ideal for long layovers
