Pokhara International Airport in a nutshell
The new Pokhara International Airport has been in operation since 2023, replacing the completely inadequate small airport in the city centre.
The airport is situated approximately 6 km from the centre of Pokhara, one of the largest tourist centres in the whole of Nepal.
Most scheduled flights are to the capital, Kathmandu, and to mountain airports (such as Jomsom).
Please note that some domestic flights still operate from the old Pokhara Domestic Airport in the city centre. When booking a ticket, therefore, pay close attention to your actual departure and arrival points.
- Pokhara International PHH = the new airport further from the city centre
- Pokhara Domestic PKR = the old airport in the city centre
Several international airlines also fly directly to Pokhara:
- Flydubai – Dubai
- Sichuan Airlines – Chengdu Tianfu
- Bhutan Airlines – Paro
- Himalaya Airlines – Lhasa
However, due to limited competition, it is often cheaper to fly to Kathmandu and then take a domestic flight to Pokhara. There are flights from Kathmandu to Pokhara several times an hour.
