Transport to Bergamo Airport is provided exclusively by bus services, comprising large coaches to Milan and one local bus service to Bergamo.

There is no train service to the airport.

How do you get from Bergamo Airport to Milan?

There are bus stops right outside the terminal, with buses running directly to Milano Centrale station without the need to change.

• Journey time to Milano Centrale – 60 minutes
• Frequency – every 5–15 minutes
• Fare – 10 eur one way / 18 eur return (night fares start from 5 eur)

Several bus companies operate on this route, and the differences between them are minimal. Fares, stops and journey times are practically the same.

Bus timetables: which operator is best?

Direct buses depart from the airport to Milano Centrale railway station at least once every half hour, ensuring that all passengers are accommodated upon arrival.

There are several operators to choose from, the largest of which isTerravision.

Ticket prices are the same across all operators and are cheapest when bought online: 10 eur is for a one-way ticket, whilst 18 eur is for a return ticket.

If you do not buy your tickets online, you can purchase them from the driver before boarding.

Avoid buying from the ticket booth in the arrivals hall, as you’ll be tied to one specific company and may miss out on a potentially quicker journey on an earlier bus operated by another company.

Tickets cost the same with all three companies. When travelling to the airport, tickets can be bought from the ticket seller directly at the bus stops near the main railway station (Piazza Luigi di Savoia – location on the map).

Other bus companies include Flibco,FlixbusandAutostradale.

Where to stay in Milan?

If you’re arriving late in the evening or departing early in the morning, I’d recommend looking for a hotel near Milano Centrale.

All buses to Bergamo Airport depart from here, and it’s also an excellent base for exploring Milan.

Bus to Bergamo

Bus route 1 runs every 20 minutes to Bergamo city centre, the railway station or the historic centre of Città Alta. You can find the timetable on the website:atb.bergamo.it.

You can buy tickets directly at the bus stop or from the ticket machines on board the bus. Tickets can also be purchased via the ATB Mobile app. The fare is as follows; you must purchase a ticket valid for 3 zones:

• 90 minutes for 3 eur,
• 24 hours for 8,50 eur,
• 72 hours for 14,50 eur.

You only need to validate your ticket on your first journey after boarding; you do not need to validate it again, and it is also valid on cable cars.

Bus number 1 departs from stop number 1, directly in front of the arrivals hall. All services from the airport go to the railway station and to the centre of Città Alta.

However, when travelling to the airport, check the bus route number carefully. Only buses on routes 1 or 1E stop at the airport (route 1E runs only from the airport to the railway station), not 1A, 1B or 1C. In the timetable, all services running to the airport are marked with an aeroplane icon.

Bus to Lake Garda

Direct buses to Lake Garda run from the terminal to two towns:

• Peschiera del Garda, operated by Flixbus. A one-way ticket costs from 16 eur; the journey takes 65 minutes, but buses currently only run three times a day 👉buy a ticket from the airport to Lake Garda – flixbus.com
• Desenzano del Garda, operated by Austradale. A one-way ticket costs from 15,50 eur; the journey takes 2 hours and buses run approximately 10 times a day 👉 buy a ticket from the airport to Desenzano on Austradale.it

Bus to Lake Como

You can also travel directly from the airport to Lake Como – specifically, to the town of Como itself – without having to change buses.

You can buy tickets for direct buses on the Flibco.com website at 19,90 eur.

The journey time is 1 hour and 45 minutes, and buses run approximately 9 times a day.

To Malpensa Airport

You can make the transfer from Bergamo Airport to Malpensa Airport (Terminals 1 and 2) in under 2 hours. There is a direct Flixbus service between the airports, costing 20 eur one way. However, it only runs 6–8 times a day, departing from platform 3.

• Buy a ticket between Bergamo and Malpensa airports

A more frequent service runs via the centre of Milan, where you take the bus to the central railway station and change to the Malpensa Express trains, which run every half hour. You’ll pay 8 eur for the bus from Bergamo to the centre of Milan and 13 eur for the train from Milan to Malpensa. The total journey time is approximately 150 minutes.

At the station, you can also change to cheaper, very frequent buses (10 eur), but these are slower, so the total journey time will be around 3 hours.
