Transport from Marrakech Airport: My Tips
The airport can be reached by a special bus line for 30 mad, or cheaper regular lines for 4 mad running along the main street about 400 meters from the terminal.
Taxis are a convenient transport option, which are paid for at the terminal, eliminating haggling and the risk of overcharging.

City buses
The bus service in Marrakech is operated by the Alsa transport company and official information can be found on the alsa.ma website.
Bus 19 directly to the terminal
Line 19 runs directly to the terminal. In the city, this bus circles the entire centre, including the central Djemaa el-Fnaa square. There is also a stop at the train station.
A ticket for 30 MAD can only be purchased in cash from the driver. The return fare costs 50 mad and the ticket is valid for 14 days for any connection.
- Frequency - 20 minutes
- Journey time - 25 minutes
- Operating hours - 6:00 to 23:30

Cheaper buses from the main road
To save as much as possible, walk from the terminal about 400 metres to the roundabout on the main road and turn left. In about another 50 metres you will find the bus stop "Aeroport" directly on the main road, where the regular public transport lines stop.
A ticket for all lines in Marrakech (except airport line 19) costs 4 MAD per ride. Payment is to be made to the driver in cash only and ideally in the exact amount as possible.
All lines run from approximately 6:30am to 10:30pm at a frequency of 10 to 15 minutes.
- Djemaa el-Fnaa - historic centre: lines 11, 12
- Bus station: lines 11, 12, 18
- Train station: lines 18, 19
Line 20 runs to the south of Marrakech and line 33 also terminates about 200 metres south of Djemaa el-Fnaa Square.
Rent a car
There are several international and local car rental counters in the departure hall.
A car is a great option in Morocco if you want to explore the rural areas and venture into the Atlas Mountains.
Prices for a week's rental start at €80 from local rental companies and from 180 eur and large international companies.
Taxi / Mobile app
Due to frequent problems with rogue taxi drivers offering tourists up to 4 times the official price set by the city, the taxi system at the airport is being completely changed from 2023.
Once you arrive, visit the official "kech.cab" kiosk inside the arrivals hall to pay for your taxi. Payment is possible in cash and by credit card.
You will be given a paper ticket, which you scan at the machine outside the taxi stand using a QR code, which will give you a new ticket.
Just hand it over to the nearest taxi driver who will take you to your destination. You pay nothing to the taxi driver. Tipping is not expected, but any small change is always appreciated by the driver.
The official taxi fare to the city centre (Jemaa el-Fnaa Square) is 85 MAD.
You'll have to negotiate the price when travelling from the centre to the airport. Again, it shouldn't be more than 85 mad, but it can be a problem to find a taxi driver to take you for that price. You should definitely not pay more than 100 mad to get from the centre to the airport.
To travel without the stress of haggling and haggling over price, use one of the mobile taxi apps that work in Marrakech:
- Careem - Google Play / App Store
- InDrive - Google Play / App Store
- Heetch - Google Play / App Store
- Roby- Google Play / App Store

On line 19, a one-way ticket costs 30 MAD, a return ticket costs 50 MAD and is valid for 14 days.
Thanks for the update, I'll edit!
I'D LIKE TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT:
New modern airport, free wifi, 5 km to the centre. ATMs of Moroccan banks are in connected terminals 1+2 at the exit. Non-bank ATMs are disadvantageous. The exchange rate of the exchange offices, which are only in front of the baggage claim, is 5% lower than in the centre.
It is not convenient to buy a SIM at the airport.
Airport bus for 30 MAD, regular bus for 4 MAD on the main road 400 meters from the terminal, payment at the driver in cash.
Taxis are paid in front of the terminal at the kech.cab stand. Tipping is not necessary. The price to the centre in the evening is 190 MAD. Uber and the like do not run here. From the centre 100 MAD during the day
Terminal 1 - check-in: paper boarding pass required at check-in even with hold luggage. It is only free when checking in online in advance. Departure from Terminal 2
Pearl Lounge - after security and passport control on the 1st floor, next to Duty Free, alcohol free.
The new buses should have a card terminal. I saw it at 11 and it's supposed to be at 19.
The Aeroport stop is on an island and I didn't notice it marked. At least the location matches the maps.

Thanks for the update!
Then there's the payment. 🙂
Just to clarify the terminals on the buses - I've seen them on all 3 I've ridden (not once 19). First I paid cash and then only noticed it, then I tried the card and either did something wrong or it didn't work, well the third time I was glad I got on the bus at all so the test didn't happen.
So I would recommend not relying on the card and when you get on the bus towards the airport at the Koutoubia stop be prepared to dash to the bus and get on first so you don't have to wait for the next one just when you are in a hurry.
