Transport from Lima Airport: My Tips
Express buses or minibuses operated by two private companies run to Miraflores, Lima’s most affluent district. The journey time is around 90 minutes.
As well as official taxis, the Uber app is very popular in Lima and can also be used for journeys to and from the airport. The journey to Miraflores takes 75–90 minutes and to the historic centre around 30–45 minutes.

Taxi, Uber
When travelling by taxi, we strongly recommend using official taxi services, which have their own counters inside the terminal.
The Uber app also works well in Lima and at the airport, and you can usually get to the city centre for a lower price than with taxis:
- Miraflores (Parque Kennedy) – approx. 60 pen
- Historic Centre (Plaza Miguel Grau) – approx. 50 pen
Express buses
You can reach the Miraflores district by modern, air-conditioned buses. They do not stop anywhere else during the journey.
The stops for Airport Express Lima and Quick Llama are located about 70 metres from the central part of the terminal (between the domestic and international sections).
You can buy tickets on board from the bus driver or conductor. Payment can be made by card or in cash.

Hotel recommendations near Parque Kennedy
If you don’t want to spend ages looking for accommodation after arriving in Lima by bus, we recommend these hotels right on Parque Kennedy square:
- Miraflores City Hotel *** – a local hotel with reasonable prices and good reviews
- Alpes Lima Kennedy Hostel – a popular and very cheap hostel with excellent reviews
Car hire
If you’re only heading to Lima, it’s not worth hiring a car due to the extremely confusing and chaotic traffic.
If you want to head out of the city and into the mountains from the airport, there are several local and major international car hire companies available.
Prices for a week’s hire start at 165 usd.
City buses (Colectivos)
There is no regular public transport service to the airport. Although dozens of different minibus routes pass along the main road in front of the terminal, you won’t even be able to get on with a small rucksack.
Timetables or route maps are not displayed anywhere, and neither the drivers nor fellow passengers almost ever speak English.

Another alternative to get from New Lima Airport - Jorge Chavez is to take the AeroDirecto buses to the Magdalena del Mar district (Avenida Brasil), relatively close to Miraflores. It costs only 5 PEN.
Further to Miraflores, a local bus costs 2,50 PEN.
With suitcases and no knowledge of Spanish, I would not recommend this option.
