Transfer between flights

Lihue is not a typical transfer airport, this function for the Hawaiian Islands is mainly performed by Honolulu HNL on the island of Oahu.

Transfer from international flights and flights from the mainland U.S.

In this case, you must always exit the transit area or pick up your checked baggage and walk out to the public area.

You must then check in again and go through security to the departure gate.

Inter-island flights

If you are connecting to Kauai on interisland flights between the Hawaiian Islands, you will disembark directly into the departure gate area.

Your luggage will be automatically reloaded and will not go through security.

Airport overnight stays - opening hours

The terminal closes for the night approximately 30 minutes after your last arrival. It opens about 2.5 hours before the first morning departure.

It is therefore not possible to stay overnight at the airport.

Hotels near the airport

There is no hotel directly next to the terminal.

The nearest budget hotels are in downtown Lihue (about 4 miles), but none of them offer a free transfer to the terminal.
