The quickest way to get from the airport to the city centre is by train; public transport buses are a cheaper option.

The SKA1 train to Kraków city centre

The most convenient way to travel from the airport to Kraków is byrail, via the SKA1 city line.

The station is located right next to the terminal on the arrivals level. The walk from the arrivals hall takes no more than 2 minutes and is clearly signposted.

The journey between the airport and Kraków Główny main station takes 17 minutes. Trains run approximately every 30 minutes from 4 am until midnight (seetimetable).

Tickets to the centre of Kraków 20 pln can be purchased from ticket machines on the platform and in the terminal, where card payments are accepted. You can also buy a ticket online atmalopolskiekoleje.pl. Tickets issued by Kraków’s public transport operator for buses and trams are not valid on the train (see below).

A ticket from the airport to Wieliczka costs 24 pln.

Roughly every third service continues from Kraków on to the Wieliczka Salt Mines.

Bus to the centre of Kraków

A cheaper alternative is the city bus service, which stops at various points along the route and takes about 45 minutes to reach the western edge of the city centre.

A single ticket valid for 60 minutes costs 8 pln. A 90-minute ticket costs 9 pln.

A 48-hour ticket is available for 40 pln or a 72-hour ticket for 55 pln, both of which are also valid for travel to the airport.

However, the 24-hour ticket is divided into Zone I, which is not valid for travel to the airport. To travel to the airport, you must buy a 24-hour ticket valid for Zones I+II+III for25 pln.

You can buy tickets from ticket machines at stops, where you can also pay by card. On the bus, you must ‘validate’ your ticket in the ticket validator after boarding; you only need to do this once on your first journey (you do not need to validate it again when changing buses).

Taxis

Taxis at the airport are operated by a single, official provider. Fares are calculated on a flat-rate basis according to distance, and the city centre can be reached for an average of 90 pln.

Flixbus and Regiojet long-distance coaches also stop directly at the airport, providing direct services to cities in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
