Transport from Kavala Airport: My Tips
KTEL buses run to the airport only a few times a day and, moreover, only reach the city of Kavala via a change at Chrysoupoli.
The best option is definitely to hire a car straight from the airport.
If you’ve booked a package holiday through a travel agency, you’ll be taken from the airport to your hotel free of charge; the representative on site will arrange everything.
Car hire
There are many branches of international car hire companies in the arrivals hall. A car is the most flexible way to get around the northern Greek coast and to take the ferry to the island of Thassos.
Weekly hire prices during the high season range from 190 eur to 250 eur.

Taxi
Several official taxis are waiting outside the airport for every arriving flight. Mobile apps such as Bolt or Uber do not operate here.
Taxis always operate on a meter, and approximate fares are as follows:
- Kavala – 40 eur
- Keramoti – 25 eur
Payment is by cash only.
KTEL buses
KTEL Kavalas buses run to the airport, but only 3–4 times a day. The buses mainly connect with Aegean Airlines flights to and from Athens.
First, you need to take a bus from the airport to the nearby town of Chrysoupoli (15 minutes), from where there are more frequent services to Kavala (40 minutes).
Timetables can be found on the official website:ktelkavalas.gr.
