Shops and supermarket

The Woolworths supermarket is open in the public area on the ground floor (6.00–22.00).

The terminal boasts a wide range of shops selling fashion, accessories, jewellery, souvenirs and travel essentials.

Most of the shops are located beyond the security checkpoint, but there is also a long corridor with many shops on the first floor of the public area (in Terminal B).

In both the public and transit areas, you can usethe chemist’s, which is open from 6.00 am to 10.00 pm.

Dining options

There is a wide range of dining options in the terminal, both in the public area and in the transit zone. Which establishments are the most popular?

• KFC: fast food – public area, departures, 6.00–22.00
• Wimpy: fast food – transit areas, domestic departures, 5.00–20.00
• Mugg & Bean: café – public area and transit zone, departures, 6.00–20.00

Luggage storage

The A-Teck luggage storage facility is located on the underground level beneath the central arrivals hall, on the way to the car park. You will need to go down one floor from the ground floor via the escalator or lift.

The signage states that the luggage storage facility is straight ahead towards the car park, but this signage is incorrect; you will find the luggage storage facility immediately on your left.

Storage for 12–24 hours costs 100 zar and storage for 6–12 hours costs 90 zar.

Payment can only be made in cash.

It is open 24/7.

ATMs and currency exchange bureaux

Throughout the airport, you’ll find a number of cash machines belonging to local banks such as Nedbank, ABSA, Netbank and Standard Bank, from which you can withdraw cash using foreign cards.

On arrival, you’ll find ATMs straight away on the ground floor, but there are more of them located one floor up.

Traditional currency exchange counters are available in the public area of the arrivals hall, although the exchange rates offered by high street banks via their ATMs are usually more favourable.

Post office

On the ground floor of the main terminal, next to the arrivals hall, there is a South African Post Office branch, open daily, including weekends, from 8.00 am to 7.00 pm.

Smoking areas

We could not find any smoking rooms anywhere beyond the security check.

Smoking is only permitted outside in a small park between the terminal and the hotel.

At the end of Terminal A on the 3rd floor, you can visit the indoor viewing terrace free of charge, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, offering a lovely view of the airport apron and one runway.
