Heraklion Airport’s single terminal looks rather dated and tends to be very busy during the summer season. However, it is easy to find your way around and the distances from check-in to the aircraft are short.

The terminal has a single ground floor. Most of it is set aside for check-in desks and the departures area; only a small section on the far left is used for arrivals.

During the summer season, be prepared for a severe shortage of seating and queues at security checks lasting up to 40 minutes.

Connecting flights

Heraklion Airport is not a major hub and therefore does not offer the option of direct transfers via the transit area.

If you arrange your own connection in Heraklion, you will need to exit the terminal, check in again and go back through security.
