Transport from Düsseldorf Airport: My Tips
The airport is connected to the city's S-Bahn and several public bus lines that take passengers to Düsseldorf city centre and the surrounding areas.
There is also an intercity train station about 2 km from the terminal, which can be reached by a free automatic train.

| Regional trains | 3,80 eur | 20-25 minutes | 2-20 minutes | 1 |

Before leaving the airport terminal, you can compare the current departures of all the services on the interactive departure board and compare whether it is worth taking the automatic train to the train station or whether you would rather use the S-Bahn S11 directly from the terminal.
Ticket prices
A single fare for the whole of the wider area, including the cities of Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Dortmund, Essen, Glesenkirchen, Mönchengladbach, Neuss and many more, is provided by the transport organiser Rheinbahn.
Ticket prices are the same for S-Bahn, regular regional trains and buses.
The following ticket types are the most common:
- 90 minutes (tariff A3) - 3,80 eur
- 24 hours (only for journeys within Düsseldorf) - - 7,60 eur
Significant discounts apply for day tickets when travelling with more than one person.
Tickets can be purchased at ticket machines at all stations or on the Rheinbahn mobile app.
S-Bahn S11 and S1
The most convenient way to get to the city centre is by public rail. The S11 line runs directly in front of the terminal, the station is called "Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal". There is therefore no need to use the automatic train from the terminal to the train station.
During the working day, the S11 is supplemented by the S1 line, which also runs to Düsseldorf Central Station.
The entrance to the S-Bahn station S11 is underground and located approximately 50 metres in front of the airport building.
The S11 trains run to Düsseldorf Central Station and also to Neuss. From there they continue south to Cologne and Bergisch Gladbach. However, the journey to Cologne is considerably quicker by regional train from a station 2 km from the terminal or by changing at Düsseldorf Hauptbahnof.

The SkyTrain runs once every 4-7 minutes from 3:45 to 0:45. It has two stops in the terminal directly on the departure level. The ride to the station takes about 7 minutes and is included in the price of the train ticket or parking fee.
You can buy and mark your train ticket at the station in SkyTrain.

If you have any questions or comments about the article...
SkyTrain is not free.
The following tickets are accepted for SkyTrain:
All passengers who do not have one of these tickets must purchase a ticket (EUR 3.80) before boarding. Ticket machines are located at SkyTrain stations. The fares and conditions of carriage of the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association (VRR) apply.
As a parking customer at the P4 and P5 car parks, you can identify yourself using mobile payment when checking your parking space.
On the other hand, it has to be said that nobody checks the tickets, the SkyTrain runs automatically.
I can confirm that when I was there last year, there was a ticket machine at SkyTrain, but I ignored it. As stated above, no one checked it, you go to the parking lot or train station anyway.
