Transfers and Terminal Layout at Düsseldorf Airport
Although the airport officially has three terminals marked with the letters A, B and C, it is actually a single building. It is easy to navigate and you can walk from one end of the airport to the other within 15 minutes.

The central check-in hall is common to all flights. The area is divided after security control into departures to Schengen countries (gates B and partly A) and departures to non-Schengen countries (gates C and partly A).
While each section has its own security checkpoint, within the transit area you can move freely between all gates A, B, C regardless of which security checkpoint you go through.
All departure gates are within a 10 minute walk from security. There are no other satellite terminals in Düsseldorf that you have to take buses or automated trains to get to.
Transfer between flights
Düsseldorf Airport is very popular and convenient for transfers.
Because you never have to change buildings, transfers are quick and the real transfer time between planes rarely takes more than 20 minutes.
If you are checking in for your next flight, you don't have to leave the transit area.
Checks during transfer
What checks will you go through when you change planes in Düsseldorf?
- Schengen <-> Schengen: no check
- Schengen -> Non-Schengen: passport control
- Non-Schengen -> Schegnen: passport and security check
- Non-Schengen -> Non-Schegnen: security check
